Kimmy Hussey

Kimmy Hussey is a contemporary painter based in St. Ives, Cornwall. She studied Fine art at college in Yorkshire for two years and went on to study at Leeds College of Art where she completed a Foundation in Art and Design. Kimmy then had further studies at the University of The Arts London where she gained a degree in Set Design for Screen, she graduated in 2013. Kimmy mainly paints with a mix of acrylics, oil sticks and oil pastels. She paints abstract works, naïve still life and expressive landscapes. Her work has been shown this year in the Crypt Gallery and Mariners Gallery at the St. Ives Society of Artists. Since moving to St. Ives in 2023 she has now acquired a studio at Higher Bussow Farm where she paints most days and continues to develop her practice. Her work is diverse yet holds a distinctive style that connects her pieces by way of colour, composition and line.The outcome is often abstract, bright and uplifting and her style is very playful. She seeks to express the joy and contentment she feels living alongside and observing the beauty of Cornish light and landscape.
