Two long weekends of Open Studios :
24-26 MAY and 30 MAY-1 JUNE : 11am to 5pm daily

Fiona Foster

Painting

Painter of big skies, Cornish coastlines and always in search of the light, Fiona swims at Coverack, near her home on the Lizard Peninsula and her work is driven by the form of the coastline, the colours of the ever-changing sea and sky, and the many patterns of light on the water.

Fiona paints in oils, often using cold wax for extra depth and texture. She uses a limited colour palette and tends to use the paint thinly, focusing on the texture created by mark making and glazing of colours to give depth and richness. Smaller initial pieces on paper act as a start point for larger works, typically painted on oil paper mounted onto cradled panels.

Fiona is one of the resident artists at the lovely Coast Colour Canvas Gallery at Roskilly's near Coverack, where her work can be seen between April and September.
During Open Studios, Fiona will be using the gallery as a painting studio and having a special exhibition of her work at the gallery; "In search of the light"
