Painting

I am self taught and found a real passion for botanical art when I moved to Cornwall in 2008. I work in acrylics, not one piece of work is the same or gives me the same sense of being or satisfaction.

I work from photographs and I take pride in only using the images I take myself setting up still life scenes with glass bottles or just purely focusing on the flowers themselves and as often as I can I grow the flowers myself.

Everyone has an emotional attachment to a different flower maybe a loved one’s favourite or maybe a memory of a happy day. Throughout  history we’ve used flowers to symbolise so many things from  strength, love, joy, understanding, comfort, celebration and connection.

To me every new piece of work is so exciting, as in the garden there is always joy from hellebores bobbing in midwinter to the first peonies of the season, tall happy  sunflowers and bright and bold dahlias. To the scent of roses and wisteria in the late evening sun.
