Simon Jewell

Landscape and seascape artist born in Oxford in 1972. Graduating from Falmouth School of Art and Lincoln College of Art and Design with an HND in Graphic Design and Illustration. After working for his father’s architectural practice moved to Cornwall in 2008 with wife Rebecca to rekindle their passion for the arts.The ancient Cornish landscape with its rich heritage and the seas surrounding it are such an inspiration to me. Goonhilly Downs have become a bit of an obsession with its large open vistas and huge skies. The ruggedness of the landscape and the savage beauty of the sea especially in the winter months just takes my breath away. I mainly paint using oils on large canvases and on board building up layers of paint to portray that mood and intensity that the seas and landscape have to offer. I currently exhibit my work in various galleries within Cornwall, London and New Zealand.
