Through drawing, writing, print making and sculpture I collect and make stories about my encounters with non-human life in sea, land and air. I celebrate, mourn, and bring attention to those I meet bearing witness to the moment I am in.
Questioning my role as artist and asking how my practice affects the world around me has led to a transition away from clear cast resin and acrylics to exploring bio processes such as making inks and pigments from locally found plants and rocks. Producing my own art materials adds new layers of connection with place to my work.
In this time of transition my work is a mix of traditional art, that is observational drawing, and an art practice that is more a way of living. Collecting, foraging, gardening, gathering, weaving, fermenting, concocting, grinding and binding are also ways of seeing and being in the world.
