My creative journey is one of healing; of grace, seeing leading a slower creative life as an opportunity to live in rhythm with Mother Nature, one that notices the daily seasonal changes, celebrates the small things and sees beauty in the everyday.
My work is a celebration of stories from home, it is inspired from the land at home here in rural Cornwall. It is personal, expressive and experimental. Through journalling the seasons, befriending the land, I witness the life of flora and fauna in the meadows and woodland, through this process I begin my designs taking them from land to studio.
The very act of holding the Earth in my hands, mindfully moulding and forming into organic shapes brings such therapeutic benefits to me and offers opportunity to escape, to turn away from the chaos of humankind.
I create space for the joy of unique, hand formed pieces, often using illustration and my original words. Through traditional methods of hand building I pinch, fold and coil creating organic free formed vessels, where imperfections connect the maker to the piece. I hope the joy I have in making transfers to the recipient of the each and every item.
Some of my pieces are raku and saggar fired out of doors, using materials found on the land here. A new collection is underway using inspiration from historical sites, incorporating wild clay slips and traditional markings.
