Faith is a Cornish printmaker. Her work captures fleeting moments and precious glimpses of our fragile natural world. Recent pieces revolve around her love of wild birds and many of them have a humorous perspective, which capture some of the fascinating little characters she has observed. But beneath the humour lies a deep concern about the challenges faced by species in our evolving human-dominated world. She aims to provoke reflection on our impact and inspire action for conservation.
Her favoured technique is drypoint intaglio, where she draws directly onto a plate with etching tools. Plates used are aluminium, tetra pack, zinc, drypoint plastic or mirror card. The plate is then carefully hand prepared with etching ink and run through an etching press onto damp Hahnemule paper, which produces prints which have irresistibly rich, velvety burr lines.
Her work has been included in high profile shows such as the London Royal Academy (RA) Summer Exhibition (2019, 2022, 2023), she is a Royal West Academy (RWA) Artist Network Member in Bristol and a resident artist at Wildwood Arts, Horrabridge, Dartmoor and Tonic Gallery, Salcombe, Devon.
