Chairs and Tables
Instead of using traditional type I have made my own wooden blocks by slicing family heirlooms to type height. I am interested in natural erosion, wood grain, edges, and interiors eaten away with woodworm, or worn by years of use.
I have created spaces between these blocks with strips of lead and letterpress equipment. I print these assembled plates under pressure using etching ink, sometimes in intaglio, sometimes relief. I have incorporated chine colle, and multiple colour registrations. I am interested in the natural world, in grids, patterns and repetition.
