Louise Kidd

I graduated from Art College with a BA in Textiles in 1972. I am emerging rather late in life, after decades of caring for a brain-injured daughter. My work is evolving after time at Newlyn School of Art - which was followed by graduation from Falmouth University in January 2025 with an MA in Fine Art.

I draw inspiration from my coastal surroundings where I walk every day with my dog. I delight in the detail of the wild undergrowth on the footpath as much as the sight of the ever changing views of the sea. I take numerous photos in order to find shapes and compositions.

I work in acrylics and have been using numerous techniques for creating vibrant intuitive paintings inspired by my local landscape. I create subtle textures in my paintings and use numerous transparent glazes to build up an intensity of colour in order to increase intensity.  Working intuitively, I allow the paintings to develop slowly.
