Sally MacCabe

I am a mixed media artist and maker working with a variety of materials to produce paintings, artists’ books, sculptures and collaged wall hangings. Many of my paintings are an intuitive exploration of layered textures and applied ephemera using personal letters, vintage texts and found objects and some of my artworks include hand stitch and fragments of fabric combined with paint that create an interesting fusion of techniques.  I generally work with acrylics and a palette of greys, subtble blues and natural colours. The making and use of sketchbooks is an integral part of my working process.

I have lived and worked in St Ives since 2000, having moved from Oxfordshire, and living by the sea in such an artistic community has had a subliminal affect on my work.  I have been a professional artist and taught mixed media workshops for over thirty years after having had a fascinating career as a PA working in Oxford London and New York.
