Cornish Coastal Collections

Mixed Media & Textile Artist

Wendy Horner is a qualified adult education teacher, Mixed Media and Textile artist, living and working full time from her home garden studio above the cove of Portmellon, Mevagissey.

Passionate about textures and constantly inspired by Cornwall, the coastline, rock pools, fish and the sea,“I love experimenting, as such anything goes”.  “I achieve lots of textures by building layers,  painting with acrylic paints and inks to make backgrounds on specialist fabrics,  adding more layers, textures, metallic foils and fibres, machine stitching them all into place, then manipulating and fusing all the layers together to produce stunning art pieces”.  Her current work includes shoals of fish, cut from fine metals such as aluminiun, copper, brass and stainless steel.

Wendy is constantly exploring new products and materials, varying layers and mediums which then produce different effects, so no one piece can ever be exactly the same, making each piece of artwork totally unique.

Wendy’s work is usually sold within galleries and Maker Shops in Cornwall, pieces have sold and been shipped to Jersey, Germany, the USA and Australia too.

During your visit I will be offering for sale; A variety of Handmade Cards and handmade items,  framed and unframed artwork from small to large sizes.

Studio information

My home studio is at the top of Portmellon, access is either via Gorran Churchtown to Portmellon Cove or Mevagissey Village.

Via Mevagissey Village

From St Austell head to Mevagissey, go through the one way system through the village, straight ahead for Portmellon, don't turn off, go straight ahead, bearing sharp right, then left and up along Higher Well Park you will see a blue painted bungalow and signs for access on the right.

Via Gorran Churchtown avoiding Mevagissey Village to Portmellon Cove

From St Austell head to Mevagissey, at the crossroads, turn right signposted to Heligan and Gorran Haven, continue to Gorran Churchtown, then onto Portmellon Cove. Upon entering the Cove take the first left up Portmellon Park to the very top and bear right around the bend onto Higher Well Park where you will see a blue bungalow and access signage on the left hand side of the road.

Blue painted Bungalow with side narrow path access via a garden gate, with steps upto a level lawn across to my garden studio. Unsuitable for wheelchair or limited ability access.
