I have been a professional Artist/Ceramacist for over 40 years , My work is shown in Galleries and collections Nationaly and internationaly. The nature jounals that I keep which inform my work are my source of inspiration filled withh illistrations and notes about the flora and fauna that inspire me.
I work in Watercolour, Raku Fired Sculpture and Handthrown Earthenware Tableware.
The watercolours which informs all of my ceramic work are made during the journeys I take in the landscape, I make notes and drawings of the plants and animals I see, these notes and drawings are compiled into journals which I have been keeping for over 30 years. This is my expression of a life long passion for the natural world and my way of understanding our enviroment. From these I build my ceramics and share my delight in nature with everyone I can.
As well as producing ceramics have taught watercolour jouralling throughout the world.
The ceramics are made using 2 distinct techniques:
Raku sculptures of birds and animals are hand built using coils then decorated with texture and colour.
The Eathernware tableware and large vessels are thrown and slipped and decorated with sgraffito images of animals, birds and flowers, using line and colour.
