I trained at Buckinghamshire College, High Wycombe, in furniture Design and Craftsmanship. On Graduating in 1994 I worked as a cabinetmaker for Waywood, an established company specialising in bespoke hardwood furniture. In 1996 I joined Tim Hodgkinson of Looe, Cornwall, where I worked as a part of a two-man team producing one-off designs and a wide range of subcontract projects for some of Britain's leading furniture companies.
I have been working as a Cabinet Maker for the last 30 years, the majority of which on the Lizard Peninsula, Cornwall. In recent times I have begun concentrating on creating mirrors inspired by my love of the Arts and Crafts and Art Deco movements. I produce work to my own designs, mixing timber and veneers with copper, serpentine and other natural materials. I’m inspired by my Cornish surroundings and concentrate on natural colours and textures.
Having also been teaching since 2005, I run Furniture Skills Courses from my rural workshop in Coverack and have taught all ages ranging from 14 - 80 years.
Furniture Skills Courses - if you fancy picking up a new skill or polishing an old one, please get in touch. More details are on my website.

DIRECTIONS TO KNAPPERS, POLCOVERACK VEAN, COVERACK. TR12 6SP.
From Helston take the A3083 towards the Lizard. You will pass Culdrose Naval Air Base on your left. At the next roundabout take the B3293 signposted to St. Keverne. You will pass through a valley and then at the top of the hill go straight over at the roundabout continuing on the B3293. You will pass a little school on your left. Continue on this road for about 5 miles, passing Goonhilly Earth Station on your right and then Zoar garage, also on your right.
You will pass through a bit of tree cover and then approach a junction on your right, with the road to St. Keverne bearing around to the left. There are two roads coming off at this junction. Take the first road (the 2nd leads to Coverack village and Roskilly’s). Pass a picnic spot on the right and continue down this road for about 1/3 mile, where you will come to a lane off to the left. Take this lane, a rough track, passing over 2 cattle grids. After the 2nd cattle grid there is a lane off to the right. Take this lane and park in the first driveway on the right with 2 wooden workshops.
Parking is on a gravel driveway outside the workshop. From here you walk a few steps on a slightly uneven path, leading to the workshop. There are then two steps leading up to the workshop door. I'm very sorry, but there is no wheelchair access to the workshop.
